For the first time in more than 8 years, the larger of our two wet labs at the UpStart Center for Entrepreneurship in Orono is becoming available. There are few such opportunities in the Greater Bangor area, or even in the northern half of the state.

The lab was built out in 2018 and has been occupied ever since, first by a clean tech startup and then by a division of UMaine’s Advanced Structures and Composites Center.

A schematic drawing of wet lab 307a, consisting of 3 rooms, at the UpStart Center of Maine.

The lab is equipped with:

  • Generator backup

  • Chemical-resistant benchtops

  • Compressed air connections

  • 110/220V outlets

  • Center of room benchtop with drop-down electrical connection

  • Wet benchtop with sink and emergency eyewash station

  • Plumbed tap & purified water

  • Cabinet storage throughout labs

  • Tiled floors with floor drain

  • Connection for fume hood; fans already installed

On top of all of this, the lab comes with all the amenities the UpStart Center has to offer, including proximity to UMaine and I-95, shared conference rooms, a large kitchen and dining space, ample parking, and the camaraderie and services of a center devoted to innovation, technology, and a strong mix of startups and established organizations.

The lab is available in October. We would love to offer a tour and answer any questions you may have beforehand. Find out more on the specs page or view a floor plan here. We’d love to hear from you.
